Recruitment Week

This year, hundreds of girls from all over the nation, came down to LSU for sorority recruitment. It started on August 16 and ended on the 22nd. This week consisted of 4 different rounds (Ice Water, Philanthropy,
Skit, and Preference) and ended with Bid day. Celeste Albares, an active member, said “Recruitment week can be stressful, but we try our best to make it fun, and I think we did just that. I had lots of fun during recruitment, especially on bid day with our ‘Mi Casa es su Casa’ theme.”

When Bid day came around and the Delta Kappa chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta saw their new member class, they were so excited and couldn’t have been more pleased. All the active members had worked so hard on getting a great group of girls and that’s exactly what they had achieved.

Thanks to ERB, the ELCs, and all the alumnae that helped!

Theta Travelers

A 10 hour plane ride, 5 movies and 6 naps later, two members of the Delta Kappa chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta finally made it to Europe! Theta sisters, Lindsey Ratcliff and Laura Chan traveled for thirty days to six amazing cities across Europe: Amsterdam, Netherlands; Paris, France; London, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; Isle of Skye, Scotland; and Dublin, Ireland. Their days were packed with plenty of sightseeing and learning about different cultures, all the while studying public relations and British media. Lindsey and Laura found the “I Amsterdam” monument, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, visited Versailles, and went to Stonehenge. They also saw where the Romans bathed, toured the BBC, made their way through Oxford, played in the Scottish Highlands, and even met the very infamous character of the unofficial song of Ireland, Molly Malone! Those are only a few of the adventures these two had on their trip.

Laura and Lindsey both agree that this trip was one major milestone in their lives. They met many different people, ranging from cast members of the Peter Pan play in Kensington Gardens in London to members of British Parliament to backpackers from all over the world. Not only did they meet amazing people and partake on many adventures, they were able to venture this new world together. According to Laura, “Because Ratcliff was with me on the trip it made going to all of these new places and meeting all these Europeans so much easier.” Lindsey also said, “Not only did I get to travel across Europe and experience different cultures with Laura, but I also made some really great friends along the way!”
