Watermelon Bust
On September 11th the Delta Kappa chapter participated in Lambda Chi Alpha's Watermelon bust. Watermelon bust is Lambda Chi's big philanthropy event they do every year. Each sorority paid a fee and all their members went to the parade grounds where Lambda Chi set up a ton of watermelons, a dunk tank, a tug-o-war, and a slip 'n slide. The girls basically just had a huge watermelon fight until all the watermelons are gone and then they played on the slip 'n slide or play tug-o-war. Watermelon Bust is a lot of fun every year even though the girls get really sticky from being covered in watermelon.

Crawfish on the Clover
Crawfish on the Clover, our chapter's big philanthropy, was Saturday, March 20th. For $10 people came to eat two pounds of crawfish, jambalaya, corn, potatoes, and various sodas. While they ate, guests were able to enjoy live music by Three Blind Mice. We raised almost $11,000 for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), but there are still more donations coming in. We are thankful for all the people who came out to support us and CASA!

Step Show
On March 1st, 17 LSU Thetas participated in the first LSU PHC and NPC Step Show! Isabel Lee choreographed the routine with the help of an NPC liaison. Their theme for their routine was Where the Wild Things Are and they started the dance with Isabel Lee yelling "Let the wild rumpus begin!" Although Theta didn't place we were all so proud of them for all the hard work they put into the routine and how well they performed. One of the coolest parts of the routine was when all the girls did head stands! Most of the Thetas that weren't in the step show came to support the girls that were and made signs that corresponded with the theme.

King Cake Carnival
On February 12th, the Delta Kappa chapter hosted a PHC event to celebrate Mardi Gras called King Cake Carnival. Sorority girls came to the house for 17 different kinds of king cake and socializing. VPP Lizzie Tran put on the event and T-Shirt Chair Lauren Berg designed the adorable shirts. King Cake Carnival is one of our most popular PHC events and it was really successful this year! We can't wait for more king cake next year!

Theta Spotlight!
Our theta sister, Melissa Seanard, was this week’s theta spotlight on the headquarters Web site! She was featured on the Web site because the U.S. Green Building Council awarded her the National Young Leaders Award for a recycling proposal that she created as part of a class project. Melissa’s idea was to dispose trash collected during LSU home football games and on campus. They were able to recycle more than five tons of cardboard and plastic food and drinks during the first two weeks it was in effect.

Theta girls hit the slopes!
During the winter break a bunch of our LSU Thetas went to Copper Mountain, Colorado for an LSU Greek ski trip. The girls skied, snowboarded, shopped, and hung out at the resort throughout their 5-day stay. At night there was six live bands that played ranging from Mims to Benny Davis. Nicole Tusa thought the best part was hanging out with her Theta sisters in a new place and meeting new people who went to LSU.
