KAT-fish for CASA

KAT-fish for CASA was Delta Kappa's biggest philanthropy event this year. It was Friday, April 1st. For $8 supporters came and ate catfish, two sides, and brownies. They also got to listen to live music! We raised over $9,300. Delta Kappa is so thankful for everyone's donations and support for CASA!

Twin Star Formal 2011!

Yesterday, March 26, was Delta Kappa's Twin Star Formal. It was at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge. The day started off with a brunch at the Theta house with everyone's family. All the new members wore long white dresses and were presented by their dads at formal. It was definitely one of the funnest events of this year and we can't wait for next year!

LSU Greek Week 2011!

During Greek Week at LSU the Greeks partner up with Habitat for Humanity and help build two houses. We loved helping out! It was fun working with all the other Greek chapters and getting to know them better. It was amazing to see all the progress we had made at the end of the week!

2011 Spring Step Show

February 23rd, LSU Thetas participated in the second LSU Spring PHC and NPC Step Show! Cydney Lorio choreographed the dance with the help of an NPC liaison. The girls practiced really hard and you could definitely tell!  Although Theta didn't place in any of the awards they got fourth place, and we are so very proud of them! Here's a link to watch how legit our girls are!

Founder's Day!

Saturday morning Thetas past and present gathered together to celebrate Founder's Day! In a meaningful ceremony everyone was reminded of the ideals of Theta and the strong bond that our sisterhood entices. After a small gathering offered a chance  for everyone to discuss what the sisterhood means to them and share stories about their experiences.

Theta Christmas Party!

For our Christmas party we had a Tacky Christmas Sweater Party. We decorated Christmas cookies, made bows for our hair, and had hot chocolate. It was one of our funnest and biggest sisterhood events of the semester and a great way to end the semester!

Watermelon Bust

On September 11th the Delta Kappa chapter participated in Lambda Chi Alpha's Watermelon bust. Watermelon bust is Lambda Chi's big philanthropy event they do every year. Each sorority paid a fee and all their members went to the parade grounds where Lambda Chi set up a ton of watermelons, a dunk tank, a tug-o-war, and a slip 'n slide. The girls basically just had a huge watermelon fight until all the watermelons are gone and then they played on the slip 'n slide or play tug-o-war. Watermelon Bust is a lot of fun every year even though the girls get really sticky from being covered in watermelon.

Crawfish on the Clover

Crawfish on the Clover, our chapter's big philanthropy, was Saturday, March 20th. For $10 people came to eat two pounds of crawfish, jambalaya, corn, potatoes, and various sodas. While they ate, guests were able to enjoy live music by Three Blind Mice. We raised almost $11,000 for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), but there are still more donations coming in. We are thankful for all the people who came out to support us and CASA!

Step Show

On March 1st, 17 LSU Thetas participated in the first LSU PHC and NPC Step Show! Isabel Lee choreographed the routine with the help of an NPC liaison. Their theme for their routine was Where the Wild Things Are and they started the dance with Isabel Lee yelling "Let the wild rumpus begin!" Although Theta didn't place we were all so proud of them for all the hard work they put into the routine and how well they performed. One of the coolest parts of the routine was when all the girls did head stands! Most of the Thetas that weren't in the step show came to support the girls that were and made signs that corresponded with the theme.

King Cake Carnival

On February 12th, the Delta Kappa chapter hosted a PHC event to celebrate Mardi Gras called King Cake Carnival. Sorority girls came to the house for 17 different kinds of king cake and socializing. VPP Lizzie Tran put on the event and T-Shirt Chair Lauren Berg designed the adorable shirts. King Cake Carnival is one of our most popular PHC events and it was really successful this year! We can't wait for more king cake next year!
