King Cake Carnival

On February 12th, the Delta Kappa chapter hosted a PHC event to celebrate Mardi Gras called King Cake Carnival. Sorority girls came to the house for 17 different kinds of king cake and socializing. VPP Lizzie Tran put on the event and T-Shirt Chair Lauren Berg designed the adorable shirts. King Cake Carnival is one of our most popular PHC events and it was really successful this year! We can't wait for more king cake next year!

Theta Spotlight!

Our theta sister, Melissa Seanard, was this week’s theta spotlight on the headquarters Web site! She was featured on the Web site because the U.S. Green Building Council awarded her the National Young Leaders Award for a recycling proposal that she created as part of a class project. Melissa’s idea was to dispose trash collected during LSU home football games and on campus. They were able to recycle more than five tons of cardboard and plastic food and drinks during the first two weeks it was in effect.

Theta girls hit the slopes!

During the winter break a bunch of our LSU Thetas went to Copper Mountain, Colorado for an LSU Greek ski trip. The girls skied, snowboarded, shopped, and hung out at the resort throughout their 5-day stay. At night there was six live bands that played ranging from Mims to Benny Davis. Nicole Tusa thought the best part was hanging out with her Theta sisters in a new place and meeting new people who went to LSU.

rocking out down sorority row

To celebrate LSU's 100th Homecoming, the Delta Kappa chapter 'rocked and rolled' all last week while participating in many fun and exciting events. Flag football started off the week and Theta received a 3rd place finish! Theta also participated in CANapalooza. CANapalooza was an event that supported the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Each team had to supply their own food cans and build something creative out of the cans. After judging the winners, the cans were then donated to the food bank. With over 800 cans, Theta came in 2nd place with their Pentagon structure! Kappa Alpha Theta also received 2nd place in the banner competition! The lawn decorations and the parade closed out the week with a '100 Years and Still Rocking' theme. Special thanks to Caitlin Watzke for doing an amazing job with homecoming!

At the Theta house, the theme was "Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!" There were many games like the Giraffe Toss and Tiger Toss and even a face painting station. There were many kids ranging from toddlers to pre-teens and turned out to be a fun night for the kids and Thetas!

Discovery Day '09

On October 5-9, the theta house was filled with lots of surprises and excitement as the girls of the Delta Kappa chapter participated in Discovery week. Discovery week is a week when all the new members get presents each day from their sorority big sister. Some of these gifts consisted of candy, beta fish "theta betas", picture frames, and many other things. Some girls even decorated their "little's" car. Friday was the big reveal and all the new member were filled with anticipation as to whom their big sis was. Each big sis decorated a pair of shoes, one for them, and one for their little. After the littles received their shoe, all the bigs got together in one room and hid behind banners along the wall, only revealing their feet. When all the littles walked in the room, all the bigs lifted up the banners at the same time to reveal who they were. It was a great moment for all the families in the chapter!
